Dr. Frank's obituary
It is with great sorrow that we must announce the passing of our father, Dr. Frank Lipson, DDS on April 11th 2025.
He was a caring father and healthcare provider, beloved by his friends, family, and colleagues, and always willing to help others.
Frank was born in 1945 in Brooklyn, NY to Edith and Abraham (Pete) Lipson. The family soon moved to Long Island, NY where Frank and his younger brother George grew up.
Frank graduated from Paul D. Schreiber High School, then attended University of Southern California, before moving back east and graduating from Hofstra University.
In 1969 Frank graduated from St. Louis University School of Dentistry with his DDS, paving the way for his life’s passion.
He had an ardent passion for dentistry, and attended almost all American Dental Association meetings, even after he retired from practice in 2022.
In addition to being an excellent Dentist, Dr. Lipson had many interesting jobs during his formative years which he frequently liked to share stories from. From summer bartending on Long Island, Lifeguard at Jones Beach, a U.S. Federal Customs Agent, and a US Public Health Service senior assistant Dental Surgeon (equivalent rank Lt. Commander) for two years between 1969-1971.
Dr. Lipson began his practice in 1971 in Pompano Beach, FL, but spent the last 39 years of dental practice in Plantation Florida. Frank was a dentist for over 50 years, fueled by his love of helping people, and seeing people smile again.
Dr. Lipson also had quite a sweet tooth so he didn’t judge the occasional cavity.
Dr. Lipson was a proud and very active member of the Plantation Rotary Club, where he was president elect several times; he especially enjoyed working on the Rotary Club’s scholarship efforts throughout the years.
Dr. Lipson was predeceased by Cathy Lipson, his beloved wife of 47 years, who passed away in May 2023.
He is survived by two children and one grandson; daughter Samantha Lipson, son Alexander Lipson, his daughter-in-law Erin Lipson, and grandson Brett Lipson.
Dr. Lipson is also survived by his brother George Lipson and spouse Rain Lipson (Florida), sister-in-law Maryann Pedigo and children (Michigan), sister-in-law Betty Daly and children (Michigan), brother-in-law Walter Pedigo and family (Indiana), sister-in-law Carolyn Coyne and children (Michigan).
Dr. Lipson’s office staff were people he considered family and loved dearly so it would be difficult to name everyone, but know that you were loved.
Because of his dedication to learning and medicine, Dr. Lipson wished to be donated to a medical school so that what he has gone through with his heart may train the next generation of doctors. He will be donated to University of Central Florida College of Medicine, where Alexander is an alumnus. They will take good care of him and treat him with the respect he deserves after his final service to medicine. He will then be returned to his family to be reunited with his late wife Cathy Lipson of 47 years.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a future date and location.
Our wish is to accommodate as many people who may want to travel and be here to honor Frank.
We will make sure that the information is announced as soon as plans are finalized.
We have set up an email address for people who want to share photos or stories:
