Dr. Diane's obituary

"It is more blessed to give than to receive." Acts 20:35

Dr. Diane Lynne Stern, beloved sister, daughter, mother, aunt, 64 years old, of Vacaville, California, passed away on 8-14-2024, after a long illness that she bravely fought for most of her life.

Dr. Stern, affectionately known as Dee Dee to her loved ones, was born on March 26, 1960, in Berkeley, California and had the prestigious honor of living her first years at University of California, Berkeley, at the University Village, while her father pursued his degree.

Dee Dee attended elementary school in San Jose, California and then went on to junior high in Sebastopol, California.  After her family moved, she attended high school at Reed High School in Sparks, Nevada. She was offered several scholarships to prestigious colleges for softball and basketball. She was chosen as a delegate to Girls State for her leadership abilities and ability to build bridges to success. She was also nominated for homecoming queen in her senior year.

After high school Dee Dee pursued her childhood dream of becoming a physician. She attended medical school at the University of Nevada, Reno and then her internship in Internal Medicine at the University of California, Irvine. She lived in Laguna Beach, California and worked in Newport Beach as an Urgent Care provider until she passed her boards and then joined two close friends in practice in San Luis Obispo, California. Dr. Stern excelled as a board certified physician and eventually assumed the role of Chief of Staff of her hospital. While leading her organization, she developed a medical library for all staff and patients to utilize in search of answers to their medical dilemmas and the pursuit of medical knowledge. She also coordinated multiple fundraisers to establish the library and support her church and community. She eventually retired after a prestigious career, but continued to work as much as possible in the community and raise her only son.

She also obtained her pilot's license and was a member of The Ninety Nines, Women's Pilot Organization. She loved to fly and take her family over Michael Jackson's Ranch and the beautiful California coast.

Dee Dee loved all people and had a kind altruistic heart. She had high moral values and also had a wonderful sense of humor. She was generous to a fault and devoted her life to helping her fellow mankind.  She was always available to help all in need and dedicated her life to making the lives of others better. Her ultimate goal was to establish a center for alternative medicine for all people seeking health and wellness. She travelled the world to study the spiritualism of many different peoples and their cultures. She shared her knowledge openly and with excitement as she discovered the many alternatives to traditional American medicine.

Dee Dee loved and was loved by all of her family. She is survived by a large family which includes her mother, Janet Henderson, her sisters, Susan Fernhoff, Julie Stern and Rebecca Gaines, her brothers, Ivan Henderson III, Neil Henderson and Joseph Henderson and her son, Zachary Tenborg.
