Dr Onwudiwe was my home boy and  like a biological brother to me.  It’s really painful that he didn’t have the gift of longevity.   He was such a jovial, lively, nice and smart man. 

I am going to sorely miss him. Rest peacefully in the good Lord’s bosom my dear brother.

Dr. O from what I have read, u would have been the Best to Have, an as an incoming student a first semester CJ major. I’m saddened that I will not get to meet you, an I promise to make you proud.. Thank you for your amazing teaching an maybe u can help me in spirit along the way.. My Condolences to your family, I hope u get to meet my mom. May you rest in peace

It was such an honor to have Dr. O for both semesters at YSU during my first year. He was very calm, humble, and humorous when teaching his criminal justice students. One moment I remember with him was showing up to our final exam early and saying hello in the hall. Dr. O expressed to me how excited he was to be going back to his home country for summer break and it’s heart breaking to hear he is not coming back for another semester. I hope his family is keeping well and my condolences go out to them.

I met Chris when he taught at Xavier University of New Orleans. He was always up for a filled political discussion. He was a good man who loved his son. Chris also loved his Nigeria, his homeland. A man who wanted the best from people who did no harm to anyone.

May you rest in God’s perfect peace Dr. O. 💜🙏

Sending my prayers to his family. Dr. O. was an amazing professor and a great person. I worked as his graduate assistant for a while and he was always nice and helpful. May he rest in peace.

Dr. O was one of the most amazing professors that I had at YSU. He was so incredibly kind and will be missed for sure. 

He was amazing, his friendly attitude was a light in the darkness. He always remembered who I was no matter if I was in his class or not. 

I wish his family and friends peace. Dr. O will never be forgotten!!

Sending all of my prayers to his family. Dr. O was truly a one of a kind professor. He always came in to class with a positive attitude and a few jokes. Even though he had large classrooms to teach, he still made students feel seen and made genuine connections. I will sincerely miss bumping into Dr. O in the hallway and attending his classes.

I had the pleasure of working with Christian in the CJFS Department for 10 years. He was instrumental in keeping the faculty meetings civil with his calming presence. He was such a good-natured person, always smiling, even when having to wrestle with technology when we had online meetings! I wish Christian had lived long enough to retire and enjoy more time in Nigeria, which was his 'happy place'. Rest in peace.
