Dr. Blanche Mae Cook was born on June 11, 1946, in Los Angeles California, the beloved daughter of late Ernestine Brown and the late Mr. Henderson. At an early age, Blanche became part of the loving home of her extended family, Jessie and Olivia Stanfield, growing up in San Pedro California, where she spent her formative years and built a foundation of strong Christian values, deep family bonds, and lifelong friendships.
On May 28, 1966, Blanche united in marriage with her first husband, John Mac Pierre. From this union, they were blessed with three children: Marilyn, Evelyn, and David Pierre. Later in life, on June 30, 1979, Blanche found love again and married Calvin Cook, and together they welcomed their daughter, Kathleen Michelle Cook into the world.
Blanche's life was a testament to her deep-seated belief in the transformative power of education, a value she passionately instilled in her children. Her own academic journey was distinguished, both in pursuit and in practice culminating in a Doctorate Degree in Educational Leadership from NOVA Southeastern University after receiving her Master's Degree in Public Administration and Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Studies from California State Universities in Long Beach and Dominguez Hills, respectively. She also held an Administrative Services Credential, demonstrating her commitment to excellence in education and leadership.
Over a distinguished 40-year career, D.r Cook rose from a high school teacher to serve as Vice-Principal, Principal, and later as a District Administrator. She was also a college professor at prestigious institutions such as Azusa Pacific University, UC Riverside, and National University. Her expertise in special education made her a sought-after consultant for Los Angeles County, and her passion for lifelong learning extended to being an accomplished author and public speaker. Her drive, compassion, and vision inspired countless students, peers, and community members.
Blanche's unwavering commitment to her Christian faith was a cornerstone of her life. She was a dedicated member of Bible Believers Missionary Baptist Church, where her devotion led her to serve as a Deaconess. Her life was a testament to her beliefs, touching countless lives with her kindness and spiritual strength.
Dr. Blanche Mae Cook went home to be with our heavenly father on May 20, 2025, survived by her beloved siblings: Barbara, Betty, Pauline, Junior, and John; her cherished children: Marilyn Pierre-Smith, Evelyn Pierre, David Pierre, and Kathleen Rivera; 13 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, and a host of extended family-nieces, nephews, cousins-and devoted friends who will miss her deeply. Her legacy of wisdom, grace, and enduring love lives on in all who had the honor of knowing her.
