I went to high school with Dave and Doug, played football with them as well, we were far from friend but I harbor no anger or I'll will to either I've the taught me allot,I try know that. Sorry for your loss, I've been away so, yeah, praying for you and your family,

I am so sadden to hear of Doug’s passing. I worked with Doug at Pacifica PD and always appreciated what I learned from him - he was always there when needed, both on and off duty. I just learned of this tonight and am very very saddened. It’s been a few months now, and I pray that you, Tracy, are finding peace and fond memories of Doug.

Rest In Peace #47.

Saying prayers for peace and comfort for you and your family, Tracy! Sending so much love and hugs from afar 💙 Sam & Jake

Like all of us, I am so very heart broken by Doug's sudden passing. He was always so indestructible in my mind. A great friend.

I was Doug's car partner at SJPD for two years. We worked together on the west side. We even had our own personally built and assigned police car. (More on that in a moment)

On our very first day working together on our new team, he came up to me after briefing and asked if I wanted to double up with him in a car and cover both of our beats. I looked up at him and was thinking, he** yeah, I'll take this big guy as my partner. I got nothing to worry about with him as a partner. WRONG! No story(s) here but he was a trouble maker! LOL!
But it was fun!

Anyway, after briefing we took the elevator down to the garage and our car was parked directly across from the elevator. Doug TOLD me that he would be driving. We put some of our gear in the car and he said to me not to get to comfortable because the car was not going to work for us. It was an older 1980's ish Dodge. He sat in the driver seat, leaned back and pushed the seat back and broke the seat off its frame. Woah!!!!

We gathered our gear and went down to the PD garage to get a newer car. The garage staff told us that they knew about him and that they were reconfiguring a car just for him so he would not "damage" any more cars. It was hilarious!

We got along amazing well right off. The times we shared were great. We laughed, ate a lot and all the time, drank coffee and had so much fun together. We even found a secret donut shop that opened early for us. After our shift, we would go have "a couple beers after work." It was such a good time.

He was not the most patient cop and I was never the cop that wanted to "stir it up" but wow did we get into it. He "solved the problems" and I wrote the reports. It was one of the most memorable times of my career. I hope he thought so, too. I wouldn't trade it for anything.

Our careers moved on. I was there when he got hurt. He retired out. I am grateful to have spent that time with him. He is the absolute best partner to have.

I feel so blessed to have had an amazing conversation with him the Tuesday before he passed. We talked about family and friends, the past and the future and what we would be doing. It's a conversation I am so thankful to have had with him.

Doug was genuine. He cared. He loved his family and friends . He was thoughtful, though he didn't want us to know this soft side of him. He was a good friend. Doug didn't back down from anything. I believe he went out on his own terms.

My family will miss him. I am grateful he is no loner in pain.

My family and I pray that Doug has peace. We will miss him.

Gone too soon.  Prayers to his family .  It was a pleasure being his high school classmate.  We had some fun times together with Doug and Dave.  Rest In Peace.

Before Doug and Tracy moved to Austin he brought over about 8 cactus plants they had in pots and gave them to us. We recently replanted them in their own cactus garden in our yard. Know that as long as we live here those cactus plants will remind us of Doug and he will forever be remembered. RIP my big friend.
