Douglas's obituary
Douglas W. Anderson
December 17, 1946 – March 26, 2026
His love was my light—the sun of all my mornings and the fire of all my nights.
Douglas W. Anderson passed peacefully on March 26, 2026, with Margaret by his side. After more than three years of battling multiple cancers, including melanoma, Doug is finally free from pain and we celebrate a life well lived. In his memory, those who knew him are encouraged to take care—get your skin checked and respect the sun.
Doug is deeply mourned by his beloved and devoted wife, Margaret, with whom he shared 30 years and 9 months of unwavering partnership, love, and loyalty.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Leah Kathleen, whose unexpected passing in November 2025 was a loss he carried quietly and deeply.
He is survived by his brother, Don Anderson and his wife, Marita; his son, Eric Anderson and his wife, Jennifer; his stepdaughter, Kjierstin Layton and her husband, Zachary; and his cherished grandchildren, Julia, Hayden, and McKinley, who brought him great pride and joy.
Doug was a humble man, an avid hunter, and a true outdoorsman. A contractor by trade, he took pride in hard work and building with his hands. He also never passed up the chance to enjoy time at a casino—something that always brought him a bit of fun and excitement.
He will also be remembered by the friends who shared in his stories, laughter, and time outdoors. Those friendships meant a great deal to him and were a meaningful part of his life.
Doug lived life on his own terms, loved deeply, and stood firmly in what mattered most to him.
He will be missed beyond words.
In accordance with his wishes, Doug has been laid to rest along the Columbia River, where he now rests peacefully in a place he loved. Margaret is not receiving calls or visitors at this time and asks that her privacy be fully respected.
