What a beautiful tribute to Doug. We lost a loving caring wonderful friend. Marti left no stones unturned. Their love for each other was evident to all who loved them. Doug, Heaven has gained an angel. You’re free of pain and suffering. May you rest in peace. Our love, Betty and Bill 💕💐

So sorry to hear of Doug’s Death. I was close to his family,Especially his sister Colleen and his father , Murlin.
His mother was my 6 th grade teacher at a rural, one room school house.
Doug was part of my childhood and excelled at singing in our church choir.
He had a great laugh and smile.

It was an honor to be Doug's nurse. I aways remember being greeted with a smile.

My condolences to Douglas's family. I first met Douglas 2 years ago. He and his loving wife Marti and I began a bonding friendship. I will miss his smile, positivity and kindness. Rest in peace dear friend!

Doug and I met six years ago. While not a traditional way to meet someone, it was certainly memorable. He was with Marti, and I was with a couple of friends. Both groups were separately visiting and wandering the streets of San Francisco the morning of June 21st 2018, and it was then that our paths crossed.
Doug had a cardiac arrest, and time stood still as I performed CPR. Once the ambulance arrived and provided a life saving shock, reality set back in and Marti was somehow in all the chaos able to think to ask for my number. I received text updates on Doug's condition, which led to video chats with them and their family, which led to meeting again in person (under much happier conditions this time). My husband Alan and I became close to Doug and Marti, and we were able to see them several times over the past six years. We learned of MANY strange coincidences between our lives, and knew it was fate that we were connected in this lifetime. We are extremely grateful we got to spend time with them just a couple short months ago, and that our daughter Mara got to meet and spend time with "Omi and Opa."
I will miss Doug. The experience of how we met in addition to the continued friendship with Doug and Marti over the past six years has changed my life. They have treated my family as their family - their kindness and generosity is unmatched. They are a prime example of true love, and I will forever be grateful to know them.
