Douglas K. Mihevc, age 70, passed away on Tuesday, December 23, 2025.

He was born September 19, 1955 in Waukegan Illinois and lived in the Lake County area his entire life.

Doug enjoyed the outdoors, particularly fishing and gardening. He also enjoyed cooking and experimenting with new recipes. In recent years, he developed a passion for model rocketry and was an active member of WOOSH (Wisconsin Organization of Spacemodeling Hobbyists). He was also a lifelong NASCAR fan.

He loved live music and attended many concerts throughout his life. His taste in music was eclectic but leaned toward rock. He was an avid reader and especially enjoyed legal, political, and crime thrillers.

In addition to his many interests, Doug especially enjoyed time spent with his children and grandchildren and valued the relationships he shared with each of them.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Irene (Nedelka) Mihevc and Edwin Mihevc, and by his brother, Edward Mihevc.

He is survived by his wife, Karen Mihevc; his children, Kristen and Collin Mihevc; his five grandchildren, Grayson, Riley, Lila, and Leighton Wurtz, and Chase Mihevc; his sister, Nancy Mihevc; and his niece, Kate Kehne.

A memorial gathering to celebrate Doug’s life will be planned for a later date.
