Background
Doug's career in the Music industry was his family's primary means of support covering, among other things, household expenses (mortgage, taxes, utilities, insurance, food, etc.) and the needs of the two children, Gavin and Colette. Michele works for the Los Angeles Unified School District which provides helpful healthcare benefits, allowing Colette to have bevaior therapy sessions at home. An important issue is that Colette has Autism Spectrum Disorder and requires full support during the school day and at home. When there is not a caregiver at home, Colette must have Michele's undivided attention. As a single parent, Michele will need additional coverage so she can tend to Gavin's needs and manage the household. Colette will also require additional services as she becomes a teenager and Gavin will continue to pursue activities/ interests as part of his development and education. Gavin is a good student so he will also want to pursue a college education which will require more funding/ support.
