Doug's obituary

Douglas "Doug” Finoccchio, Jr, 58, of Greenwich, CT, passed away peacefully on July 22, 2023 surrounded by love with his immediate family.

He was the devoted husband of Jill Nichols Finocchio and loving father of Stacylee “Stacy” Finocchio Schiavo. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Doug was born on May 22, 1965 to Douglas Finocchio and Rosalie DeLuca Finocchio in Greenwich, CT. After graduating from Greenwich High School in 1983, he went on to work with his father in the construction industry like the many generations before him. He continued in the construction industry for his entire career, leaving behind his fingerprint on many custom homes built in town and the surrounding areas.

His almost 32 year marriage to Jill began in 1991, just 11 years after meeting in American Experience class in Greenwich High School when they were 15. He was a caring, loving, and constantly supportive husband.

He was unendingly proud of Stacy and her accomplishments. Most notably, the marriage to her husband in 2018 and the birth of her son in 2021.

Doug was a gentle, giving man who worked tirelessly to ensure that his family had everything they needed. His family meant more to him than anything else in the world.

He enjoyed the simple things in life but was passionate about his love of football. He played for the Greenwich High School Cardinals as number 73 and could often be found at many Cardinal football games since then.

Doug was predeceased by his mother, Rosalie; father, Douglas; and brother-in-law, Nicola Pelle.

He is survived by his wife, Jill; daughter, Stacy; son-in-law, Ryan; grandson, Maxon; sister, Deanna; nieces, nephew and extended family and friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made in Doug’s honor to help with expenses.

There will be a celebration of life held at Harvest Time Church (1338 King St, Greenwich, CT 06831) on Friday, July 28, 2023 at 10:00am.

The family would like to thank the incredible doctors, nurses and staff at Greenwich Hospital for their support and kindness during this difficult time.
