I worked in what was called "Personnel" back in the day at Royal Trust. Over the years Doug invited me to facilitate a few offsites for he and his team.

My memories of working with Doug are best described in the words of Maya Angelou - "I've learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel."

Memories of working for Doug at Royal Trust from 1988 to 1992 . Doug's personality was his dominant characteristic , as a result some did not always get what an outstanding leader he was. He built an incredible team and empowered us completely. I learned so much from Doug about how strong a team can be with the right leader who stands on the sidelines and cheers. I attributed it to his professional sports background but it was more than that for such a big guy he never let his ego dominate .

I have spoken of his example many times, Doug if you can hear me take a bow you deserve it !!!!

Played Evergreen over 40 rugby with Doug for many years. He was just a super guy on and off the field. So many great times.

My sincere condolences to Angela and the entire family. Doug was always larger than life, I will never forget him. Enjoyed many interactions with him during my executive years at Trans Mountain Pipelines.

Along with everything said in Doug's obit he was a great supportive teammate in rugby one of those guys who always had your back.

Had some great times playing rugby with Doug with the Meralomas and Evergreens. Did a couple of tours with him too.
