It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden unexpected passing of Doug Gordon Birney. This world has lost a kind , caring soul & many people have lost a great friend , the kind that only comes around one in a lifetime. He will be missed greatly by those close to him & wasn't the type of guy that people easily forget.
Doug was born March 5th 1970 in Saskatoon , SK & passed away Dec. 2021 at the age of 50 in Saskatoon , SK. He was predeceased by his mother Moira Birney, father Gordon Birney, grandparents Isobel & Harold Magnan ,William ( Bill) & Alice Birney . He is survived by his 2 older sisters Janice ( Dean ) Woodward & Donna Diamant ,as well as three nieces Rhianna Woodward, Karen Woodward & Heidi Haubrick. He wasn't married , had no known children and no extended family as both his parents where only children. Many close to him knew how he considered his good friends as his family since he had no blood relatives in the province . Unfortunately he had way to many friends to list them here but he will be missed by all of them. There will be a celebration of life event held in his memory later this month , with a tentative date of Sunday January 23rd 2022 @ 2:30 pm . Since the date hasn't been finalized yet we wont be releasing the venue at this time. Once the date is finalized we will post complete date, time, venue name & address on his Facebook page. Any donations to assist with the cost of the celebration of life can be made to a GoFundMe that has been set up and has been shared on his Facebook page , or can be brought to the memorial where we will be accepting donations.
