Dottye's obituary

Dorothy "Dottye" Shirley-Mielke, known to many as Dottye, sadly passed away on May 7, 2024. Born September 9, 1964, Dottye brought a light into this world that will be deeply missed.

Dottye is survived by her beloved spouse, Charles "Pops" Mielke, her sons Derek "Anthony" Shirley, Richard "Joseph" Hinkle, Donnie Douglas Mielke, and her daughters Christine Elaine Arnold, Chelsea Lynn Hinkle, & Amber Kay Mielke. She also leaves behind her cherished grandchildren Alana Faith Evelyn Simpson, Allye Christine  Shirley, Brett Clifford James Simpson, Olivia Taylor Pierson, Asher Brighton Shirley, Rylan Shane Shirley, Stetzyn Wyatt Lytham Shirley, Soharia Hinkle, Horatio Hinkle, Bella Aragon, Abel Aragon, & Antonio Aragon. Dottye also proceeded a handful of cherished brothers and sisters that she loved dearly. Dottye was proceeded in Death by her late husband Richard Norman Hinkle & Her Mother Judith Shirley, both of St. Peter's Missouri.

Dottye was a woman of many talents and accomplishments. Notably, she was a proud owner of Rick & Dotts Poo's & Rott's Cocker's Too  out of Jonesburg Missouri in the early 2000's, where she bred AKC winning champion Cocker Spaniels Tiny Tea Cup Poodles and Champion German Blood Line AKC Rottweilers. She was also owner of a  Small Pet Grooming Company in Warrenton Missouri later called Noah's Bark. She achieved the personal goal of floating and flipping out of a canoe in every minor river in Missouri but her favorite one was the Black River near Elephant Rock and Johnson Shuttens . Above all, she relished in the role of being a  Great Grandmother. Dottye spent her days wanting to sit laugh smile and talk awhile with friends and family, always passing her favorite BONG packed with what she would call "That sticky icky" and filled with cold water . Dottye was always playing & singing along with the music she would be playing off some speaker around her.

Remembered as funny, joyful, understanding, complicated, peaceful, loving, genuine, and generous, Dottye touched everyone she met. She taught us valuable lessons, such as giving respect to everyone, the power of karma, the importance of kindness and humility, and that actions speak louder than words. Her greatest legacy, however, lies in her belief that love makes one richer than any amount of wealth.

Dottye loved her family and friends without end, always approaching every situation with love and understanding. Her legacy will live on through the lives of those she held dear, reminding us to always look out for family and never give up on what we love.

A Celebration of Life for Dottye will be held on June 2nd, 2024, at 5:30 PM at 3321 IL-111 Pavillion #5. We invite all those touched by Dottye's generous spirit to join us in remembering and honoring her life. We will be lighting and flying colorful lanterns across lake HorseShoe towards the St Louis Arch.
