Dorothy was known in her neighborhood as a "go to" house for trick or treating. She would dress up and be Witch Hazel for the evening. One year, we didn't make it, so Witch Hazel left a message for my son on my phone. At the time, my son thought it was so cool that Dorothy knew a witch!
Didi welcomed me into the family with open arms and unconditionally....aside from the prerequisite of loving Brad, of course. I always appreciated that she started with love, and that love for family always came first. I'm so glad I had the chance to know Didi and to know she considered me part of her family. I'll carry that always.

A trip down memory lane! The days Didi spent at Alice Lloyd are some that she remembered most fondly, often describing them as the crown jewel of her work experience. She always spoke so warmly of her colleagues and the students. This photo is from a trip she and Jim took to visit the college a few years ago.

Brad and Didi shared a lot - including birthdays around the holidays. He always tried to make her birthday stand out. Here they are exploring George Washington's Mount Vernon together.
I met Dorothy in 2013. Our paths crossed professionally and she then became a dear friend. She always put others ahead of herself. She was a pioneer in the field of education and made a difference in so many lives. I will miss her very much.
I was blessed to meet Doc fifteen years ago. When I met Doc she was looking for someone to help her with housekeeping. She was an immaculate house keeper, but with her busy lifestyle she wanted some assistance. I have watched her change so many lives with her mentoring and passion for education. She was always ready and willing to help anyone or anything that crossed her path. That reminds me of the day we were headed out to run some errands and there was a little turtle in the street, she had me pull the car over immediately , we grabbed up the little turtle and carried it down to the creek that was nearby. There are so many stories I could tell about the "Lady in Pink". Over the years Doc and I grew close. I loved the time we spent together , she taught me so much about life, she mentored me through the good and bad times in my life, she never gave up on me even when I would give up on myself. She was truly an inspiration . I would not be the person I am today without her love and support throughout the years . Doc, I love you and will miss you greatly.
We only got to meet Didi once, but she was a spirited personality that one does not easily forget. Didi entertained us all at Justin and Brad’s wedding with engaging stories and commentary, and I admired how strong and spunky she was. I knew her more through Brad, and how well he cared for her. I know she was important in his life, and he was in hers. Sending our love to her family 💕
Didi joined us for Thanksgiving several years ago. While She had never met Rob and I, she was perfectly comfortable with this branch of Brad’s new relatives. We all crammed into the dining room for dinner and listened to stories and enjoyed having Brad and Justin passing dishes to everyone. It was a Thanksgiving I always think of with pleasure!
