Dorothy Jean Wimbish
Dorothy Jean Wimbish, 89, of Saint Charles, Missouri, passed into everlasting glory in March, 2024 at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in Saint Peters, Missouri.
Dorothy was born in 1934 in Sparks, Kansas. She attended Kansas State Teachers college in Pittsburg, Kansas where she met her future husband Forrest at a Halloween party, having been introduced by his sister Mary Kathryn. They married in 1953 after his discharge from the Navy. They raised a family of four children, two boys and two girls. Following her husband’s career as a contract engineer, the family lived in Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas, Missouri, Ohio, and Michigan. After their children were established in school, with the oldest in high school, she began her professional career as a secretary and administrative assistant at several chemical and engineering companies. During retirement she lived briefly in Boquete, Panama, and most recently lived in Saint Peters and Saint Charles, Missouri.
She was baptized and confirmed in the Methodist church. She enjoyed traveling, cooking, sewing, bowling, and camping. She was an avid sports fan, especially rooting for the Kansas City Chiefs, and Kansas Jayhawks football and basketball teams. It was hard to separate her from the TV during March Madness.
She was predeceased by her husband Forrest and brother John.
She is survived by her sister LoraBeth and brother Arthur, sons Wayne and Warren, daughters Debbie and Pamela, ten grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Interment and services will be held in October, 2024 at the Jacksonville Veterans Cemetery, Jacksonville, Missouri with her son, the Rev. Wayne Wimbish officiating.
