Dorothy's obituary

Dorothy Evelyn Dieffenbach, 97, passed away peacefully on 16 November in Robbinsville, NJ. She was born in Manhattan, NY to Edna & George Kronen. Upon graduation from the Katherine Gibbs School she was hired by the legendary Wall Street firm C.J. Lawrence & Sons. Dorothy met and married Robert Wesley Dieffenbach in 1947 and lived in Glen Rock, NJ.

She was a loving mother raising a family of 6 children, Robert Jr., Jeffrey, Kenneth, Leslie, Randall, and Rob. After raising her family she continued her career becoming CFO of the family restaurant business in Cape May County. After the company was sold Dorothy went to work for Orthodontist Dr. Jeffrey Vecere in Cape May Court House, NJ until moving to Hamilton, NJ where she fondly cared for 4 of her young grandchildren.

Dorothy then reentered the workforce at age of 76 being employed by Dr. Cristeta Laurente and ultimately becoming office manager until her retirement at age 93. Dorothy loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren, her dear friends Audrey, Joyce, and Ursula whom she loved playing Scrabble with, she was a talented pianist, an avid reader, very deft at crossword puzzles, knitting, and passionately followed global current events on her iPad including daily competitions on Words With Friends.

Dorothy was predeceased by her parents, her husband Robert, her sons Robert, Jr. and Kenneth, and grandson Kevin. She is survived by her son Jeff, daughter Leslie (Bill), and sons Randy (Dassy), and Rob (Desiree), her grandchildren Kristy, Leah (Kevin), Jason, Jessie (Adam), Alex, Nicole, Will, Gregory, Madison, Meghan, and Vallari, and great grandchildren Marissa, Giana, Ella, Noah, Kara, Finn, and Alex.

A memorial service with the family is private and will be held in Cape May Court House at the VA Chapel.
