Dorothea's obituary

Wife, mother, sister, and friend, Dorothea “Dolly” Dano (Pence) Laperle, was born on December 12, 1951, to Howard Graham Pence and Dorothe Grace Pence. On November 1, 2024, surrounded by her children and grandchildren, Dolly peacefully passed into heaven as they sang “Jesus Loves Me” and “Because He First Loved Me,” songs she once sang to comfort them at bedtime. Her wish was to be with her loved ones in her final moments, and that wish came true. She now joins her parents, brother Donn Pence, and husband, Paul Laperle. Dolly will be deeply missed by her brother Dale Pence and family, her children Heather Gardikis, Sabrina Young, and Loren Laperle, her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and her many friends.

"The joy of the Lord is your strength." Nehemiah 8:10

Dolly was full of life and joy. She was the daughter her mother had long wished for and brought laughter and warmth to her family. Growing up with much older brothers, Dolly found companionship in her dogs, dressing them up and pushing them in her carriage. Her love for life was big, and her heart was even bigger. She loved deeply, expressed her thoughts openly, and embraced life with a spark that was uniquely hers.

Dolly’s love for Jesus, her family, music, and everyday joys was clear to everyone who knew her. Her love for pink was unmistakable, seen in her home with its pink carpets and furniture. She would often dance around the house with her tambourine to praise music, playing her favorite songs until everyone knew them by heart. Her daughters couldn’t resist sneaking into her makeup drawer, trying on her lipsticks and other beauty products, which always led to laughter and fun until they got caught. The house was always lively, with so many plants that it was fitting to use one of Dolly’s favorite sayings: “more than Carter had liver pills.”

Dolly and her brother shared a special connection, enjoying shopping trips that often took them to their favorite spot, Target. Christmas was her favorite time of year, and she made it unforgettable with an abundance of gifts stacked high under the tree. One year, she insisted that everyone open their presents one at a time. What began as a thoughtful way to savor each moment turned into an all-day event that left everyone both amused and exhausted. Even so, the joy in her eyes as she watched her family open each gift reminded everyone of her generous and playful spirit. Those moments captured who Dolly was, a woman full of love, laughter, and a passion.

She loved traveling, visiting family, and meeting new people. Being out and about brought her happiness, and when she couldn’t experience life firsthand, she eagerly looked forward to the next opportunity.

Dolly’s love for life, dedication to her family, and faith were passed down to her children and grandchildren. Her legacy lives on in the shared love for Christmas, spontaneous dancing, and faith that binds her family.

Dolly, your love and vibrant spirit will be missed. We love you and will carry your stories and memories in our hearts, sharing them with love for years to come.

Dolly Laperle’s celebration of life will be on December 13, 2024, at 5:30 p.m. The service will be delivered by Bob Metcalf at Mission Church, 6555 South State Hwy 69, Mayer, AZ 86333. We would be honored by your presence as we celebrate Dolly Laperle’s life and legacy.
