Dorota Moskal Obituary

Dorota Moskal was born in Bialystok, Poland to parents Teresa and Mieczyslaw Zajko. She grew up alongside older brother, Mirek, in the house their father built. Her childhood home was filled with animals and surrounded by gardens. She began studies in sociology at the John Paul II Catholic University of Lublin and graduated from the University of Toronto. In between, she met her husband, Greg, on New Years Eve in Chicago, while she was visiting her aunt. They were engaged soon after, on the 4th of July, 1988. After emigrating to Toronto, they had two children together-Natalia, then, David. Dorota cared for her children with her whole heart. The Moskal family travelled together regularly and shared many memories in nature, especially on yearly camping trips. She was cared for by her beloved mother-in-law, who goes by the same name. In her final days, she celebrated the wedding of her daughter to Pawel Chomicki. Dorota will be missed by family and friends in Poland, the US and Canada. Dorota’s bravery will be remembered as she fought valiantly upon receiving her cancer diagnosis. Each doctor and nurse who treated her had a profound impact, resulting in many additional years spent enjoying important moments like her children’s graduations from medical and graduate school and travelling to Poland. She passed away on January 19, 2025 and lived to be 57 years old.
