I was so very sad to hear of both Cliff and Doris' passing. She was a wonderful person, gentle, loved being around kids, and excellent at her job. She is always in my heart.Â
Out of the 6 deaths during our pandemic (none due to covid), I lost a brother in law in July, who I miss terribly, my own brother a month later, and Doris in October, 2 months later. My brother in law, Rick, and Doris are the empty holes in my heart who I miss the most. R.I.P. my friend.
Lessons from Doris goes back to the Junior Women's Club days. Doris served as Junior Club Vice President when I served as Junior Club President. There were times of strife and I will always remember her words to keep a cool head.
Dublin San Ramon Women's Club...How I miss Doris! She was a sweetheart and an avid game player. She taught three of us how to play gin rummy in her own inimitable way. We laughed through most of our games and she was the only one who could both play and laugh at the same time. Doris also won most of the games. How often do you make a friend who loves to laugh? Gerry
Dublin San Ramon Women's Club... When I think of Doris, I think of this smiling lady who always greeted me at our General Meetings with, " Hi Honey, how are you doing?" I learned that it was a gift to receive one of her wonderful smiles and warm greetings. I will miss those smiles. Pat
She walked into the Dublin San Ramon Women's Club at Shannon with knee high boots and a short swingy skirt... and that is how I will choose to remember her. Always a smile, a kind word, and a willing hand to help with whatever was needed. We will miss you, Doris.
It feels as though I have known Doris my entire life. I was privileged to know her and Clifford. I was the substitute Bunco player very once in a while. I also was one of a few people who would watch their darling Joy. Doris was an amazing woman and human being. She would always make me giggle at the fun she would have just enjoying her life to the fullest. God surely gained another angel in her. Gone too soon.
Doris was a great friend whom I played Bunko with and was in Gamma Alpha Sorority for many years. She was a co-worker with me working at Wells Middle School for many years and we retired together. We enjoyed breakfast once a month at Copper Skillet with a group of ladies who all retired at the same time. She will be so missed. RIP my friend. You are now with Cliff and your son, too.
