Doris's obituary

Doris Lorraine Walker, 82 years of age and of Commerce Georgia, passed away peacefully in the hands of her children, Debra Burns and David Walker on Friday May 12, 2023 in Gainesville Georgia.

Doris was born on September 16th in East St. Louis IL to the parents of Samuel Jacob and Doris Irma Fulkerson. Doris graduated High School in 1958 and held many positions before becoming a mother and full-time homemaker and care giver.

In 1960, Doris married David “Leon” Walker in the East St Louis area. Doris and Leon went on to have 3 children, Debra, David and Donna. Shortly after the birth of Donna, the family moved to New York state for a brief stay before moving to Virginia, where the children grew up and graduated high school.

Doris was a member of the Christian Assembly Church in Louisville, KY. She enjoyed her time with friends and family, reading her Bible, solving puzzles, and of course her time praying, especially for those in need. Doris was always the caregiver for her family and to other families as well. She has made life-long friends with many of them and continued to fellowship with those families, up until her passing. We are sure Doris will forever be in their memories as well.

Doris was predeceased by her Mother and Father, her Husband of 52 Years, David Leon, Her Brother and sister in-law David and Diederike Fulkerson, her nephew Bob Fulkerson, Jr. and her youngest child, Donna.

Doris is survived by her brother and sister-in-law Bob and Barbara Fulkerson, her Daughter Debra Burns, her favorite son and his wife Emily, her 2 grandchildren Ben and Matthew Walker, her Niece Donna Fulkerson, Nephew Jim Fulkerson and his wife Rosemary, Mark Fulkerson, Craig and Sherry Fulkerson, and Doug and Glenda Fulkerson.

Services will be held at Christian Assembly Church in Louisville KY on Saturday June 10th at 1pm eastern time. For those who cannot join in a person, a live stream will be offered. Please visit Doris’s memorial website to learn more about her life and streaming information.
