Doris's obituary

Doris “Gigi” Kinne (nee Alaniva) 92, died peacefully on Saturday June 4th, 2022 with her daughter Nance & dog Barney by her side at her Key West home. She is survived by her daughter Nance, her sister Lorraine Faller; many Alaniva nieces and nephews, her grand-children Jaime (Jason) Tyree, Jackie (Erik) Aschenbrener, Justin (Kate) Morin and Jenna (Kyle Richards) Morin; her great-grand-children Brady, Emmy, McKenzie, Rylee, Osric, Jaymis, Lily; and her dog Barney. She is preceded in death by her son Terry and her son Ken who has since passed. She has also joined good friends in heaven, Margie and Ada. Along with our dog Buster, and many, many cats named “Sassy”.

Doris was uniquely strong and feisty–a woman before her time. She cared for all people, animals, and justice for the world. She enjoyed witty and intelligent conversation,  following politics (specifically her “boyfriend” Anderson Cooper on CNN) and the occasional conspiracy theory.

She was the youngest of 10 children, born in Upper Michigan. She married her first husband, had two beautiful boys, then made the tough decision to leave and move to Cudahy. She supported her new family at Bosch & Lamb through the 50’s. They still visited Aunt Lee and all the Alaniva's in the U.P. with the boys, made lots of pastys, hung out at Schmitt’s Corners, and did plenty of boating on Lake Superior.

She met her second husband, Erv, and had a third child, Nance. During these middle years they had so much fun; garage parties, pool parties, camping every weekend, horseback riding, motorcycles, going up north to Kinne’s Kastle, snowmobiling, and ice skating. When her grandchildren visited it was more family fun, lots of pizza parties,  she disliked cooking but was so good at it.

Later in her life she enjoyed her independence at her little apartment and made some good friends, like Daniel. She lived close by to Nance and Ken, so she could help cook and care for the dogs while they were away. She quickly became a Swiffer Queen. She enjoyed crocheting, reading the paper, playing Sudoku, and traveling.

In her later years she moved to Key West with her retired daughter Nance, dog Barney, wearing fuzzy pants and goofy socks. She loved it there, and found it the best place to truly rest in peace.

A celebration of life will be held at American Legion Hall N120 W15932 Freistadt Rd. Germantown, WI on 10/16 from 2-6pm. In lieu of flowers please donate to Edvest, the Morin Family Education Fund for her great-grandchildren (Gigi always said “charity starts at home”) or the WI Humane Society in her name.  Please dress very casually.

"We sure had fun, didn't we?"
