Dorine's obituary
Dorine Marie May "Cookie" (Miller) passed away on Friday, July 26, 2024, at the age of 76 years old, comfortably in her home of the last 53 years, in Springdale, Ohio with family by her side.
She was a beloved wife, of 55 years, to her husband Terry Lee May. A dedicated and loving mother to her four daughters Erin, Erica, Emily and Elise; their husbands/partners; Mike Hudson (Erin), Jerry Warren (Erica), Jacob Dunmoyer (Emily), and Brad Kabes (Elise). She was a dearly loved grandparent to eleven grandchildren, and known as: "Amo" to her Ohio grandchildren Tyler, Kylie, Nicole and Kevin Hudson, Bailey Long (Aaron Long-Father), Shaelyn and Griffin Dunmoyer; "Mom-oh" to her Floridian grandkids Derek and Cadence "Cadie" Warren; and "Grandma" to her Wisconsin grandbabies Lucy and Simon Kabes. She is survived by one brother, Paul Miller, of Santa Barbra, CA. She's fondly remembered as "Aunt Cookie" to her extended family and will be greatly missed by all but especially by long time friends, "The Four Seasons".
Dorine was born September 24, 1947 in North Vernon, Indiana to Ed and Lucille Miller.
She was a graduate of North Vernon High School, in North Vernon, Indiana. Received the degree of Bachelor's Science of Business, from Indiana University in 1969. She worked for several large retailers in the downtown Cincinnati area, including Uniroyal and Pogues, before starting her own home decoration business, "May Upholstery & Decorating", in 1975. She steadfastly ran this business for the next forty years decorating countless residential and commercial properties throughout the area. She just loved to make "BE-A-U-Tiful" things. Upon her retirement, she turned travel, playing in multiple bridge clubs, and attending silver sneaker exercise classes, into her new career. She was doing "something" or several "somethings" everyday and often heard saying how she just didn't understand how people could stand to "just sit".
She did things her own way in life and death and in that memory we will hold a good old fashioned May Party to celebrate her life. This will be held on Saturday, August 10 at the family home at 519 Cloverdale Ave, Springdale, Ohio 45246. Catholic funeral prayer service will be at 11:00 AM followed by a open house pot luck BBQ. Mom's motto was always "The more-The Merrier" so all are welcome. In lieu of flowers please bring a potluck dish to share, beverages as desired, and a chair.
