Doreen Lynn Bates
May 7, 1970 – July 8, 2025
Doreen Lynn Bates, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away on July 8, 2025, at the age of 55. A long-time resident of North Highlands, Doreen touched the lives of many in her community through her kindness, strength, and unwavering dedication to others.
She is survived by her loving husband James; daughters Sydney, Justine, and Laura; grandchildren Quinn, Emmaline, and Theodore; and her cherished sisters, Deborah and Denise.
Known fondly to many as the neighborhood crossing guard, Doreen dedicated over two decades to keeping children safe and greeting everyone with a warm smile. She believed deeply in helping others, often going out of her way to lend a hand or offer words of encouragement. Her love for animals and passion for music, especially her favorite band, Queen, were just a few of the many things that made her light shine so brightly.
Doreen’s life was celebrated in a memorial service held on July 26, 2025, surrounded by those who loved her most.
She will be remembered for her generosity, her laughter, and the countless ways she made the world a better place.
