Skeets's obituary
It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Specialist Dorayne Melvin "Skeets" Paulson Jr. of the US Army, on July 27, 2025. Born on December 13, 1946, Skeets, as he was affectionately known by those around him, lived a life of service, honor, and indomitable spirit.
Skeets was a beacon of selflessness, courage, honor, and undoubtedly strength. Those fortunate enough to have known him recall his remarkable sense of humor, his kindness, and his boundless capacity for love and care. He was a steadfast pillar of strength to his loved ones, constantly reminding them that "Family is everything." He taught them to understand, to love with all their hearts, to stand tall, fight hard, and be strong.
Specialist Paulson's accomplishments were numerous, stamped with heartfelt dedication and commitment. Among them, his remarkable service as a Specialist in the US Army stands testimony to his courage and valor. He was a member of the American Legion post 117. He liked to restore upholstery, fish, work on cars, and taking walks. He also prided himself in his family, a pillar of love and support. One of his cherished memories was driving across the country in his semi, a journey that reflected his adventurous spirit and love for the open road.
Dorayne is survived by his beloved Linda Paulson; sister, Doreen Paulson; children, Leslie Miles, Tina Noel, Tammy Bolander, and Jerry Miles (Tanda); grandchildren, Brittany Sheets (Branden), Steven Stottlemyer, Chris Miles (Perrianne), Curt Noel, Chelsea Prefontaine (Dylan), Cassie Kicklighter (Travis), Brandon Bolander (Kasey), Justin Bolander, Zachary Miles (Ali), Collin King, Aiden Miles, Jaylynn Ridgeway, and Baylee Higgs; many great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, and so many more. He is preceded in death by his grandparents, mother, Joanne (Donald) Ennis; father, Dorayne Paulson; brothers, Charles (Chick) Paulson and Dennis Ennis; and son-in-law, Richard Crews. Brittany and the rest of the family will lovingly remember the lessons he shared and the love he gave unconditionally. He leaves behind a rich tapestry of memories that will forever be cherished.
Skeets Paulson leaves behind a legacy synonymous with hard work and selfless love. He was a man who worked tirelessly, providing for his entire family with no questions asked. His life was a testament to the kind of man he was, and his legacy will continue to inspire those who had the honor of knowing him.
As we mourn the loss of this remarkable man, we also celebrate his life and cherish the memories he has left us with. Specialist Dorayne "Skeets" Paulson Jr. may have departed from this world, but his spirit lives on in the stories we share and the lessons he imparted on us.
