Donnie's obituary

It is with profound sadness that we share the passing of our father, Donnie Michael Selenke, at the age of 83. Donnie left this life on September 11, 2024, surrounded by his family. Born in Quinter, Kansas to John and Magdalena Selenke, Donnie was the second youngest of seven children. He grew up in Wichita, Kansas, where he graduated from Wichita Southeast High School in 1959. In 1962, he married Glenda Sue Lamb, and over the years, they welcomed two children, a parakeet, and countless cats, dogs, rabbits, and gerbils into their lives. Donnie devoted much of his life to his career in sales and management at Brown & Williamson. He could sell just about anything to anyone with his wit and persistent charm. His many promotions, awards, and relationships are a testament to his skills and work ethic. Donnie and Glenda lived their lives fully, never forgetting their humble roots as they moved to Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Waukesha, Wisconsin, and Grove, Oklahoma.  Donnie is survived by his son, Michael Selenke, daughter, Dana Selenke Broehl, sons-in-law, Jeff Schalk and Greg Varga, brother, Sy Selenke, sisters, Agnes Harris and Phyllis Favero, sister-in-law, Donna Cox, and numerous nieces and nephews. His memory will forever remain in our hearts as we celebrate a life well-lived. To commemorate his life and the memories we cherish, a Vistation will be held from 10 to 11 am on October 25th at St. Rita (Three Holy Women) in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, with a Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 11 am. We welcome all who knew him to join us in celebrating his life and legacy.
