Background

Donnie Ray Byars Jr., 39, was a funny, sweet, and sometimes shy soul whose greatest joy came from the open road and the love he shared with his children. A barber and truck driver by trade, he carried a quiet strength shaped by surviving two heart attacks and continuing to live life with gratitude, humor, and heart. On November 8, 2025, Donnie’s life was tragically cut short in a hit-and-run collision while doing something he loved—riding his motorcycle. This memorial fund was created to ensure that his spirit, strength, and resilience continue to make an impact in the world.
The fund will support the future and well-being of his six children while also donating to causes that reflect Donnie’s journey and struggles: The American Heart Association and programs supporting victims of hit-and-run offenses. Through these efforts, his legacy will not only live on in the lives of those he loved most, but also in the lives of strangers who will be helped in his name. Donnie was deeply loved and will be missed beyond measure by his six children, his mother, his siblings, and a wide circle of family and friends. This fund stands as a testament to a life that, though far too short, touched many and continues to ripple outward with love and purpose.
