Donna's obituary
Donna was the secretary for the Santa Monica - Malibu Unified School District PTA. She also made vast contributions to the school system as the librarian of Roosevelt Elementary School, Modality Testing Specialist of students to help them learn their subjects in a meaningful way and as a band parent for Santa Monica High School. To Donna, education meant freedom. Through education, a person has a competitive edge above the crowd. She instilled this value into her daughter Angela.
Donna Washington was born on February 9, 1952 to Lillian Clark Reid and Paul Booker Reid in Los Angeles, CA. At the age of 5, she met Michael Washington at Sunday school. Little did she know that was to be her future husband. In school, she enjoyed singing. Donna was a 1st soprano in the Santa Monica High School choir. She graduated from high school in 1970 and attended Santa Monica City College. She married Michael Washington on June 27,1971 and gave birth to their daughter on December 30, 1971. Donna was a devoted wife and mother. She worked for a few companies including Suburban Associates as a hostess for market research & a certified lingerie fitter for Robinsons - May. She retired and eventually moved to Las Vegas with her husband to live with their daughter and son-in-law.
Donna is survived by her daughter Angela, her son-in-law Michael, bonus daughter Heather, sister Maxine, brother-in-law Leon, nephew Peter, nieces Audrie, Rose & Victoria, great nieces Verity and Georgina, nephew-in-law George, extended family and friends.
Today, we celebrate her life and how much she was loved.
Her stay on Earth ended on February 2, 2023.
