Donna (Dutcher) Swanson, of West Monroe, passed away on April 22, 2024, after a long courageous battle. She was 81. She was born in Rochester, NY and lived in many places during her life. She retired from Dewitt Laundry where she befriended many Syracuse University basketball players in her 20 years of employment there.

She had a special love for animals, especially her cats, Joey, Cat and Baby, as well as her cockatiel, Buzzard, who are all missing her! She was the first woman NRA hunter course instructor in Syracuse. Donna loved spending time with her husband and his band, The Country Gentlemen & Sharon.  Her friend and neighbor, Sue, would come over and spend many hours talking with Donna and helping her wherever she could. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend!

Donna was predeceased by her husband of 41 years, James Swanson, Sr., grandsons, Lonnie Bishop, Terrance and Jimmy Bateman; and nephews Steve Polacek, and Brad and Jackie Noyes.

She is survived by her sister and best friend Bonnie Leyer (Kenny); daughters Misty Auringer (Steve), Dawn Dennis (Larry), Melody Roy, and Sherry Flansburg (Buddy); sons, Donnie Swanson (Tona), Daniel Swanson (Tiffany), James Swanson, Jr., and Michael Swanson; 19 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.

Her laugh and her sense of humor will surely be missed! Until we see you again!

There are no calling hours. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
