Donna's obituary

Donna Jo Miller (Momma Jo)

Donna Jo Miller, known to many as (Momma Jo), passed away on April 21, 2024, in Fort Worth, Texas, at the age of 71. Born on December 26 1952, in Belton, Texas, she entered this world as the cherished daughter of Billy Don Miller and Janice Eleanor Cast Miller. From her earliest days, Donna Jo was strong willed and a free spirit that taught all around her to love life and live it to the fullest.

Donna lit up a room anywhere she went. She was so good at coming up with plans for new adventures. She loved to fish, make pottery, paint, draw, go on nature walks, play at the beach/lake/waterpark, have pool days with her sister, and gamble at the local bingo halls with her mom before she passed. She most recently looked forward to the adrenaline rush she got gambling at Winstar and kept us on our toes with stories of big winnings. She started fishing with her dad as a child on Lake Belton and has shared that love with her children and Grandchildren. She caught one of the biggest fish to date from her youngest daughter’s dock while she had a broken arm in a sling!

Some of the events that happened in the last few years just to prove how good she was at living life to the fullest include: jumping off a 20 ft doc and perforating an ear drum at age ~70, escaping Mexico with active covid despite being told to quarantine in her room for 10 days before returning to US, going down huge water slides her preteen grandchildren were scared to do, off roading her truck and showing country boys mudding like they had never seen before.

She was the most thoughtful and generous person imaginable and constantly brought gifts and food to her family members as she visited house to house. Her favorite thing to do with her gambling earnings was buy new toys for her grandchildren. Rather than spend time and money on her healthcare she spent ALL of her time and all of her money helping her family and trying to bring joy to their lives when she visited. We all attest that seeing her car pulling in for a visit was the most joyful and exciting feeling. You instantly new that such a joyful, loving, and caring person was coming and that you were all going to spend the moments she was there truly and simply just enjoying life. She made you forget about the daily stresses and just focus on living in the moment and not taking it for granted.

Donna’s love knew no bounds, especially when it came to her family. She was their staunchest supporter, and always found the words of wisdom to encourage even in tough times. Donna was an active Christian, actively attending church in person and online. She most recently brought one her grandchildren to church for their first sermon a couple weeks before her passing to encourage a life long fellowship with Jesus. She encouraged all her decedents to seek Jesus.

One of the most fun things about mammajo is that she firmly believed that messes could always be cleaned up later, the bigger the mess, the more fun but moments of joy and laughter were to be savored and cherished forever.

In addition to her loving children, Brandy Michelle Poston(52) and Shanna Sherwood(34), Donna leaves behind a legacy of love in her grandchildren: Koby Christner(32), Kirstin Poston(24), and Matthew Merritt(1), as well as her adoring great-grandchildren: Landon, Savannah, Mason, Kooper, Carson, Hudson. She is also survived by her siblings, Mike Miller, Ronny Miller, and Carolyn Wieblehaus. Nieces and Nephews: Cody, Megan, Maci, Colton, Jordan, Luke, Steven. She was very close to her great nephew Mikey.

Donna Jo was preceded in death by her beloved son, Michael Poston, parents Billy Don and Janice Miller, grandson Keegan, brother Billy. As we celebrate the life of Donna Jo, let us take comfort in the knowledge that she has embarked on her greatest adventure yet, reunited in Heaven with her very missed loved ones who have gone before her and watching over us all. May her memory be a blessing, and may she rest in eternal peace, surrounded by her loved ones she missed to much.
