Donna's obituary
Donna Sue Kuhn
February 22, 1959 – September 13, 2024
Donna Sue Kuhn, 65, passed away on September 13, 2024, in McKinleyville, California, due to complications from undiagnosed stomach cancer. She was born on February 22, 1959, in New York. Donna was a multi-talented artist who worked in video, poetry, dance, digital art, and crafts. Her creative work was recognized internationally, and she was known for her experimental approach to blending different artistic mediums. She also loved creating handmade items like jewelry, upcycled clothing, masks, and altered books, always exploring new methods in her art.
Donna lived with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS) for nearly 40 years and was connected to both the CFS and Multiple Chemical Sensitivity (MCS) communities. Her many health challenges changed how she created, but they never took away her passion. As she once said, “It may have slowed me down and changed how I work and what I create, but it hasn’t stopped me. It’s what I live for.”
Being a mother to her two children, Evan and Lena, was one of the greatest joys of Donna’s life. She loved them deeply and carried them in her heart always. Her son Evan passed away in 2005 at the age of 21 in a car accident, a loss that profoundly affected her. Donna is survived by her daughter Lena, her father Bernard, and her sister Janet.
Her art and memory will live on through her family, her community, and her website, donnakuhn.com, where her work and creative legacy can be seen.
