Donna's obituary

Donna (Keirstead) Carr, 68, of East Windsor passed away unexpectedly on Monday, February 27, 2023. Donna was born on June 16, 1954, in Presque Isle, ME, the eldest of five children to the late Leighton and Phyllis (Higgins) Keirstead. The family relocated to Windsor, CT where she was a graduate of Windsor High School, Class of 1972.

Donna loved family, music, laughter, dogs and recent politics. She especially loved sending dog videos to her sisters at all hours because she found them quite humorous. She started each day chatting with her favorite sister, Rhonda (her rock) and being visited by her favorite nurse, Katie.

Donna is survived by her son Peter Carr of Bloomfield (of whom she was extremely proud) and five adored grandchildren -Tyler and Jackson Carr of Durham, ME, Jordan Julian of East Granby, Ryan Julian of Pompano Beach, FL and Charlee Carr of Vernon. She also leaves behind her three sisters, LuAnn Rogala of Walpole, ME, Rhonda Tetreault of Ulster, PA and Karla Larsen of Southwick, MA. In addition to her parents, Donna was predeceased by her brother Ronald Keirstead, her son Keith Carr (whom she has missed dearly for the past 10 years) and her dog Carmen. Donna's family would like to extend a special thank you to her nurses, caregivers and friends who helped her to continue to live at home.

A time of visitation for family and friends will be at the Brooklawn Funeral Home located at 511 Brook Street, in Rocky Hill, Connecticut on Saturday, March 11th from noon to 1:00 PM, followed by a brief non-denominational service and cellebration of life. There will be an informal gathering at the Rocky Hill Elks Lodge located at 825 Cromwell Avenue immediately following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Connecticut Humane Society at https://cthumane.org/. A private family service will be held in the spring at the gravesite of her brother and parents.
