Donna's obituary
Donna Jean Harmon, 68, of Claymont DE, passed away on May 7, 2025. Born on November 6, 1956, Donna spent her life dedicated to her family, bringing joy and laughter to everyone she met.
Donna was a vital presence at every gathering, known for her contagious laugh and her ability to light up any room. Her love for the beach was only eclipsed by her devotion to her family. Donna retired as a secretary, a role that allowed her to touch the lives of many
She graduated from Ridley High School Class of 1974. Donna was a member of the Atonement United Methodist for many years
Beyond her professional and community life, Donna had a profound love for cats, always ensuring that no stray was ever hungry or cold. Her home was a haven not just for her family but also for the many cats she cared for over the years.
Donna was the daughter of the late Henry and Joycelyn Gillespie. Widow of the late Glenn Harmon who she loved and missed dearly. She is survived by her daughter, Melanie Harmon and grandson, Adam Whitten, whom she adored, Sister Claire Fisher and her husband, Bob; brothers, Gregg Gillespie(Joan), and Henry Gillespie(Anna). She was also dearly loved by her nieces Claire Hannigan (Kevin), Stephanie Gillespie(Jay), Michelle Harmon, Kelli Mroz(Cody) Angel, Emily, and Aubrey, and her nephews Josh Amburg (Liz), Dennis Harmon, and Danny Gillespie, along with many cousins. Her sisters-in-law, Georgia and Laine and Gloria Lynn, also held a special place in her heart. Also was loved by her great nieces and nephews Joshua, Kaila, Briella, Gianna and Jacob. Also many cousins and friends and her friend Pat Mullen.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, May 23, from 10 a.m. to 12 noon at The Atonement United Methodist Church , 3519 Philadelphia Pike, Claymont, DE 19703.
