Donna Gay Goerig, 64, of Myrtle Beach, SC went to be with her Heavenly Father on March 21, 2020. The Ironton, Ohio native was born to the late Doris “Dee Dee” (Large) Baldwin and Johnnie E. Matney on May 28, 1955.
She was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Peyton Telisa Humphrey and a very special cousin, Kay Rowe.
Donna was a 1973 graduate of Dawson-Bryant High School.
She is survived by her loving husband, Charles “Charlie” Goerig; her daughter, Trisha (Gregory) Drake and her grandchildren Emmerson and Preston Drake of Louisville, KY; two stepsons, Al (Marisol) Goerig of Bristol, PA and Gregg (Christine Mandell) Goerig of Levittown, PA and four step grandchildren, Tyler, Brandon, Rylee and Mya Goerig; her sisters Diana (Sonny) Malone of Kitts Hill, OH, Sharon (Randy) Swartzwelder of Ironton, OH, Melissa Murphy of Ironton, OH and her brothers, David (Angel) Matney of Ironton, OH, Ronald “Lee” (Donna) Baldwin of Kitts Hill, OH, Christopher “Lance” (Tina) Baldwin of Ironton, OH and Michael Baldwin of Kitts Hill, OH; many loving nieces and nephews and a special, lifelong best friend, Carol Jean Ashworth.
Donna enjoyed traveling and had the opportunity to explore many places in the United States and abroad. She also enjoyed fishing in the Atlantic Ocean and rides with her husband on their Harley-Davidson motorcycle. Donna had a charismatic personality and made friends wherever she would go. She will always be remembered for her kind, generous heart and her fun-loving spirit. She will be deeply missed by her family and the many close friends she made throughout her life.
At Donna’s request, no funeral services will be held. Myrtle Beach Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. An End of Life Celebration will be held at a later date in the Ironton, OH area. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to a fund for her caretakers and final expenses using the link below.
