Mom spent the last 31 years of her professional life in full-time ministry. Her ministry work was fulfilling but not financially rewarding. She lived the final 42 years of her life at a very low income level. Mom had a small pension that will pay out a death benefit to De Ann and I over the next three years once we have applied for it. The amount of this death benefit is $6,000 short of the expenses to close out mom's estate and cover her burial costs.

Mom didn't need much and she didn't ask for much. She was content to allow God to provide for her needs. One of her favorite bible verses to quote was Matthew 6:26-27:

"Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?"

Mom truly thought she had her post life expenses covered through her retirement benefits, but things are just more expensive in 2022 then they were in 2012 when she retired.

Our goal amount will come close to covering these expenses. Any overage of expenses that is contributed will be split into four equal parts and given to four charities that were near and dear to mom's heart.
