Donna's obituary
With heavy hearts, we honor the life of Donna Lee Farrow. Donna Lee Birnie was born on March 17, 1947 (the luckiest day of the year) to Gilbert and Mary Birnie in Los Angeles, CA. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend to many.
Although she was born in a time of separation, she was a social butterfly and a friend to anyone who crossed her path. Although her parents were hearing impaired, she always said they taught her never to judge a book by its cover.
She attended Washington Preparatory High School in Los Angeles, CA, graduating with the class of 1965. After high school, Donna began her career at A & B Plastics in Gardena, CA, where she met the love of her life, O.D. Farrow. O.D. and Donna fell in love and were married on November 28, 1966. They soon built a loving family filled with warmth and strength. To this union, they welcomed one daughter, Deborah Nicole Farrow. Donna shared with her family and friends that her greatest joy was being a mother and grandmother, always offering love, wisdom, and unwavering support.
She later worked for TRW Inc. in Los Angeles, CA. In 1995, she began her career with the Veterans Affairs Greater Los Angeles Healthcare System, where she would proudly serve for 30 years. During this time, she formed many friendships, and many of her coworkers became like family.
Because of her shining spirit and zest for life, Donna made friends everywhere she went. One of these friendships blossomed into another beautiful love story. She met Howard Magee, and through their friendship, they later married in 2016.
Donna’s spirit was vibrant, her laughter contagious, and her kindness boundless. She was preceded in death by her parents, Gilbert R. Birnie and Mary M. Birnie. She leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, and cherished memories: her daughter, Deborah Nicole Farrow-Tatum; grandson, Christian Hubbard; great-grandson, Luca Hubbard; granddaughter, Devin Nicole Tennyson; grandson, Kelby Tatum; granddaughter, Kennedy Tatum; grandchildren, Sakari, Levi, Asher, and Benjamin; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
Donna Lee Birnie will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
