Donna's obituary

Donna Sue “Duckie” (Lawence) Corbin, 71, passed away peacefully on November 17, 2025, in Mooresville, Indiana. She was born on November 22, 1953, in Indianapolis, Indiana the daughter of Oliver I. and Margaret E. (Wolfe) Lawence. Donna grew up rooted in the warmth of a close-knit family and carried that same spirit into every chapter of her life.

Known to many by her cherished nickname “Duckie,” Donna had a remarkable ability to make people feel seen and cared for. Her kindness was gentle but powerful, the kind that lifted others simply by being present. She lived with a generous heart, a soft sense of humor, and a steady warmth that made every space feel a little more like home.

Donna spent most of her life working in property management, where her patience, dependability, and people-first approach made her deeply appreciated by colleagues and residents alike. She was someone you could trust—calm in difficult moments, thoughtful in her decisions, and always willing to lend a hand.

Donna grew up skating at Melody Skateland, making many lasting friendships and fostering a lifelong love for rollerskating that she passed down to her children and grandchildren. Donna also enjoyed bowling for many years. She was in multiple leagues throughout the years, even passing that joy to both her children. Donna often took first place in tournaments, both by herself and with her kids.

As Donna’s life progressed, her greatest joy became her family. To her children, she became a band/guard mom and the hang-out house mom. She welcomed everyone that came by and always made sure she had plenty of snacks and drinks for anyone that needed them, and treated her guests as family. She was also very active in her nieces’ and nephews’ lives, providing an ear to listen, a shoulder in need and a safe place to land. In later years, she shifted her focus to her granddaughters by becoming a dance Mamaw. Often running the girls to practice and coming to every competition and recital….still bringing those snacks and drinks for everyone! Watching her girls perform brought her pure happiness and she rarely missed the opportunity to cheer them on.

Donna was preceded in death by both her parents, a brother Steven Lawence, a sister Mary Ann (Lawrence) Fox and a brother-in-law Timothy Hunter.

Donna is survived by her loving children, Steven M. Corbin II and Sarah M. Miller (Ralph), her granddaughters Abigail A. Miller and Lillian E. Miller, her sisters Peggy J. Hunter and M. Jayne Gibson (Kent), along with a wide and lively extended family—nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and even great-great nieces and nephews—each of whom held a special place in her heart. Her love ran deep and extended far.

A celebration of Donna’s life will be held on Saturday, November 22, 2025, from 2:00–4:00 p.m. at 2597 Old State Rd 37 S, Martinsville, IN 46151. Family and friends are warmly invited to come, share memories, and honor the life of a woman whose kindness touched so many.Donna leaves behind a legacy of love, connection, and quiet strength. She will be deeply missed and forever loved by those who knew her.
