Donita's obituary

Donita Sue Murphy, a cherished matriarch, loving mother, grandmother, aunt, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on March 5, 2024 at the age of 69 in the arms of her son.

Born on May 4, 1954 in Lancaster, Ohio, she was the daughter of Elsie and Marvin “Pete” Crawford, the younger sister of Leroy, and eldest sister to Esther “Marie”, Cheryl, Joey, and George. From an early age, Donita exhibited a warmth and kindness that endeared her to all who knew her. Her compassion and generosity touched countless lives throughout her lifetime. She created a loving home filled with warmth and hospitality.

As a mother, Donita was unwavering in her love and support for her two sons, Jerry Lee Tucker Jr. and William “Rusty” Russell Tucker. She instilled in them values of kindness, integrity, and resilience that were imbedded into their very beings, serving as a divine guides throughout their entire lives. Her giving heart lead her to having a hand in raising her nieces and nephew, Melissa, Michelle, JoJo, and Willie, as her own.

Her greatest joy, however, came from being a “Grammies” and great grandmother. Donita adored her grandchildren, Hayley, Kiana, Brandalin, Derrick, Deven, and Makayla, showering them with constant affection. They blessed her with her beloved great grandchildren, Brooklyn, Noah, Ford, and Hudson, who she lovingly watched grow. She cherished every moment spent with them, creating memories that will last throughout their lifetimes.

Donita was known for her fiery spirit, her infectious laughter, and her unwavering faith. She found joy in simple pleasures, whether it was caring for any child that found their way into her loving home, making delicious home-cooked meals for her loved ones, or spending time with her family, friends, and caring partner, Gary.

Donita was greeted lovingly in heaven by Jesus, her parents Elsie and Pete, her brothers Leroy, Joey and George, her husband Keith, and her son Rusty. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her, but her memory will live on in the hearts of those she touched. Though she may be gone, her love will live through us all.

A funeral service to celebrate the life of Donita Sue Murphy will be held on Monday March 11th from 11AM-1PM at Frank E. Smith funeral homes followed by a graveside service at Primitive Baptist Cemetery in Thurston, OH.
