Donald's obituary

Donald R. Winkle was born April 1, 1958 and passed away on June 2, 2024 (66 years old).

Don was a loving husband to Debbie for 44 years.  He was a devoted father to Shawn (Nicole) Winkle, Andy (Emily) Winkle, Chad (Amy) Winkle, and JoJo Winkle.  He was a cherished grandfather to Kensley, Nora, Stella, Kate, Ben, and Kamryn Winkle.

He was preceded in death by Robert Winkle (father) and Jim Foster (father-in-law).

He is survived by Virginia Winkle (mother), Al & Cathy Winkle (brother/sister-in-law), and Missy & Steve Kennedy (sister/brother-in-law), Aileen Foster (mother-in-law), Greg & Karen Foster (brother-in-law/sister-in-law), and Beth & Jim Kazmaier (sister-in-law/brother-in-law).

He is also survived by nieces and nephews that were dear to him:  Alicia, Carrie, Sam, Morgan, Chelsea, Casey, Jared, Jack, Colin, and Reagan.

Don grew up in Sharonville, OH and attended Princeton High School.  He attended Washington & Jefferson College and University of Cincinnati.

He met Debbie in high school and they were married in 1979.  They raised their children in Sharonville.  Don coached youth sports for each of his four children.  As a family they enjoyed summer vacations, time at Gorman Pool, going out for ice cream, and following local sports teams.

Don was a dedicated employee at Westrock for 44 years.  He was always willing to share his experience and knowledge with others.  Many coworkers became close friends over the years.

Don had friends from all walks of life from grade school to present.  He enjoyed spending time with them and catching up when they had the chance.

He began attending Northern Hills Christian Church in 1987.  He served there in various ways and truly loved his church family.

Don was known as "Santa" to many children.  He brought a smile to their faces but none bigger than the smile it brought to him!

Faith, family, friends, and a good sense of humor were important to Don and his life showed it!

Visitation will be held on Friday, June 14th from 5-7pm and again Saturday, June 15th at 10am.  A Memorial Service will begin at 11am.  The visitation and service will be at Northern Hills Christian Church, 9470 Winton Road, Cincinnati, 45231.

His family looks forward to talking and sharing stories with each of you.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Northern Hills Christian Church in Don's memory.
