Donald's obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Donald C. Sylvest, who entered eternal rest on January 30, 2026. Donald was born on November 18, 1941, and lived a life of love, faith, and dedication to his family and The Lord.

Donald was a loving and dedicated father and papaw, an adored figure in his family. Despite his rough exterior, under the surface was a tender, caring heart full of love for Jesus, his family, and those close to him. He always advised his loved ones to "Trust in the Lord always and call upon him daily, don't ever stop, don't ever give up". These words of wisdom shaped the lives of many, instilling courage and faith in their hearts. He retired from the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development and was an avid hunter. After living for decades in North Louisiana he settled on a piece of property he developed and built a life on in Denham Springs for over 40 years before relocating to a small group home assisted living facility in Colorado for the last three years of his life close to family.

Donald is survived by his sons,  Carl Anthony "Tony" Sylvest and Andrew Terry Don Sylvest, his sister Jerelyn Sylvest Hall, his daughters-in-law, Cindy and Katie Sylvest, and his beloved grandson, Beau Terry Don Sylvest. Donald cherished every moment spent with his family, and his loss brings immeasurable pain to all his loved ones.

In Heaven, Donald joins his beloved wife, Terry Jean B. Sylvest, his brother, Lemuel Sylvest, and his parents, Spurgeon and Netha Sylvest. The family finds solace in the fact that he is now resting peacefully in the Lord with his loved ones who have preceded him, cherishing the fond memories they shared.

A graveside service will be held for Donald on Saturday, February 7, 2026, at 10:00 AM at Hebron Baptist Church in Denham Springs, LA.  We invite all who knew and loved Donald to join us as we say our final goodbyes and celebrate his life.

We extend our heartfelt condolences to the Sylvest family, and all who knew and loved Donald. His spirit and love will remain an indelible part of our lives. Rest in peace, dear Donald, you will forever be missed.
