Donald's obituary
Donald L. Sholder, 87, passed away early Wednesday morning Feb 26, 2020. He was born Feb. 25, 1933 in Williamsport, Pa the son of Charles Samuel and Josephine Polly (Bingaman) Sholder.
Donald (Donnie) graduated from Williamsport High School in 1951. He enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in 1952 and was in the Korean Conflict as an aircraft mechanic. He achieved a rank as crew chief and was stationed in Japan where he serviced B52 bombers. After serving this nation he returned to Williamsport and took a job as a mechanic with Spencer Heater in 1956. He met Celain Marie Jows of Forest Hill, (near Mifflinburg) who worked with his mother as a beautician at LL Stearns in Williamsport. They were married in 1960 and had three children who they raised in Bastress Township. The couple celebrated 59 years together. Donnie took a job with the United States Post Office as a letter carrier in 1967. After carrying mail for about 20 years he ended his career with the post office using his talent as mechanic. Donnie was known to be able to fix anything. He retired in 1990 and enjoyed 30 years of retirement in which he and Celain built three homes, traveled and enjoyed their grand children. His hobbies were garage sales, stamps and blueberries.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his daughter, Jody L. Packard, and two brothers, Lee and Neil Sholder. Surviving in addition to Celain are his son, Shaun W. and wife Kathy A. Sholder; also daugther, Dawn L. and husband Brad Ailor, of Winchester, Idaho. Donnie was blessed with eight grandchildren, Lane, Lindsay, Adria, Andrew, Cristin, Ariel, Calley and Austin. He also has nine great-grandchildren with two on the way. He also has numerous nieces and nephews in the area.
