Background
Donald "Don" Richmond passed October 15th, leaving behind a wife and his children, he worked as a registered nurse at Wakemed(3A) and Johnston Health Hospital(PCU/ICU) for 27 years. Almost exactly a year ago Don was diagnosed with prostate cancer that then spread to his bones, full body bone metastasis. The bone pain caused him to take leave from work, saying goodbye to many coworkers who cared and loved him like family, he always hoped to return to them. Soon after he had to have major spinal surgery to remove a tumor from his spine, was on the up, then months later we found out about the much more aggressive bladder cancer. He had major surgery to have his bladder and prostate removed, but it was too late, the bladder cancer had already spread and this is what ultimately ended his life so prematurely. We thought we had more time. Over the year there was radiation, chemo, hospital stays, major surgeries, and hundreds of doctors appointments adding up to over $10,000 in medical bills. On top of this debt left behind, a funeral service was never arranged or paid for, my mom put it on credit. This page was made to help aide my mom in these expenses, she is now a single, widowed mother taking on enormous amounts of debt in the wake of losing her husband. I wish I was in a spot in life where I could help her, this page is set up by their daughter, Ali Richmond. If you are able to donate to help support my mom or to show love for my dad, I would greatly appreciate it. Include any stories you'd like to share about my dad too, they will be cherished.
