Don's obituary

Donald N. Renouf, age 77, passed away on Sunday, January 16, 2022 at Kent County Hospital in Warwick, RI. He was the beloved husband of Diana (Giguere) Renouf for 52 years and resided in North Kingstown, RI. Born in Norwich, CT, he was a son of the late Joseph Charles and Josephine Pauline (Morency) Renouf.

Don earned his Bachelor’s Degree from Wofford College in Spartanburg, South Carolina, and achieved his Master’s Degree from the University of New Haven in Connecticut. A U.S. Army Veteran, he served his country honorably in the Vietnam War. After receiving an honorable discharge in 1971, Don began working as a Biological Research Scientist for Chas. Pfizer in Groton, CT and retired in 2003 after 31 years. He traveled extensively for more than 12 years full-time RVing throughout the United States, Canada, and Mexico. During his travels Don volunteered at several state and federal parks and organizations including San Antonio Missions National Park in Texas, Hunting Island State Park in SC, and Acadia National Park in Maine. He enjoyed fly fishing, hiking, camping, biking, kayaking and recently astronomy. Don was a gentle, loving soul who cared deeply for his family, friends, colleagues, and country.

In addition to his wife, Diana, Don is survived by his children, Jennifer P. (Renouf) Gamble, and Mark T. Renouf (wife Ashley); grandsons, Brandon D. Gamble, and Owen P. Renouf; brothers, Raymond Renouf, Sr. (wife Dorothy), and Richard Renouf. He is also survived by his nephews, Raymond Jr. (wife Rosemary), Ronnie, (wife Elizabeth), Ricky, and Randy; great-niece, Madison; great-nephews, Nathan, Justin, Charlie; and cousin, Roger Morency.

A visitation will be held from 1-2 pm with a memorial service to follow at 2 pm on Saturday, January 22, 2022 in the FAGAN-QUINN Funeral Home, 825 Boston Neck Rd., North Kingstown, RI. His burial will be private.
