Donald's obituary

Donald Joseph Quiett, born October 7, 1963, in Indianapolis, Indiana, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on January 28, 2025, in Plano, Texas. He was the beloved son of James Edward Quiett, Jean Elizabeth Quiett-Lee and Robert Charles Lee.

Donald graduated from Arsenal Technical High School in Indianapolis and was known throughout his life for his unwavering kindness, steadfast honesty, and boundless generosity. He found his greatest joy in his family and took immense pride in being a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and dog dad to his two loyal companions, Maude and Aggie.

A true family man, Donald was selfless in every way, always putting the needs of his loved ones before his own. He was a steady presence, showing up not just in the easy moments, but when it mattered most. Whether it was a simple act of kindness or a grand gesture of support, he never sought recognition. His greatest reward was knowing his family was safe, happy, and cared for.

A passionate fan of the Indianapolis 500 and the Indianapolis Colts, Donald relished the excitement of race days and game days, always cheering for his hometown teams with unwavering loyalty. He carried his Indianapolis roots with pride, staying connected to the traditions and community that shaped him.

Donald is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Teena Quiett; his daughters, Mandy Franek and Megan Mullens (Justin); and his cherished grandchildren, Noah Franek, Eliot Franek, and Josephine Mullens. He is also survived by his siblings: Anita Quiett, Bill Quiett (Chelli), Barb Quiett-Smith, John Quiett (Roberta), Tom Quiett (Patty), Cathy Cunningham, Ed Quiett (Mary), Dan Lee (Karen), Mary Ann Sims (Terry), Bill Lee, and sister-in-law Trisha Frederickson (Jeff). Additionally, Donald leaves behind 38 nieces and nephews, 87 great-nieces and nephews, and 7 great-great-nieces and nephews, who will forever hold him in their hearts.

He was preceded in death by his father, James Edward Quiett; mother, Jean Elizabeth Quiett-Lee; stepfather, Robert Charles Lee; his siblings, Jim Quiett, Peggy Lee, Joe Lee, Donna Salter, and Pat Lee; and his nephew, Drew Larimer.

Donald’s memory will live on in the hearts of his family, friends, and beloved pets. May his life of love, devotion, and kindness bring comfort to all who mourn his passing.

A private service for family will be held in the coming weeks, along with a Celebration of Life to be held Indy 500 Race Weekend (his favorite time of year) for all friends and family.

A proud supporter of our troops and veterans, Donald was deeply committed to giving back to those who served our country. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in his memory to K9s For Warriors, a charity dedicated to providing service dogs to veterans in need.
