Donald's obituary
When Don was young his family left Missouri and headed to the Pacific Northwest where he attended Lynden high school. Don enlisted in the Navy right out of high school where he became a yeoman on the destroyer USS Savage. Upon serving in the Navy and getting married to Iva Lee in 1957, they had 5 children and lived in various locations throughout Western Washington including Lynden, Bothell and Kirkland before retiring in Ephrata, WA. Don held multiple jobs during his lifetime but most notably he worked for the State of Washington in the Employment Security office then retiring from the Liquor Control Board around 2010.
Don was a God fearing man and held a deep faith in his beliefs and loved his family with all his heart. Don was always the "Life of the party" and whenever there were any family gatherings he was always singing and putting smiles on everyone's faces. Don was an avid reader and also loved listening to country music including some of his favorites, Alan Jackson and Loretta Lynn. He was also a lover of dogs of which he had many over the years - Each of them he loved (and spoiled) dearly.
Don was also survived by his sister Linda Whitaker, his 16 Grand Children and 25 Great Grand Children. Don is preceded in death by his mom, Vella Neer, his father, Claude Neer and his sister, Freida Harvey.
