My condolences to the entire family.  I just now read of his passing.  Don is someone I use to know a very long time ago.  He has always been in my heart and always will be.  Rest peacefully, Don.
My condolences to the family and friends. I was never able to meet Donald but heard so many good things from C.C. I am Dora’s youngest daughter and have been honored to talk to C.C and learn more about my family. I look forward to more!!
A Time for Everything

and a season for every activity under the heavens:
2 a time to be born and a time to die,
a time to plant and a time to uproot,(B)
3 a time to kill(C) and a time to heal,
a time to tear down and a time to build,
4 a time to weep and a time to laugh,
a time to mourn and a time to dance,
5 a time to scatter stones and a time to gather them,
a time to embrace and a time to refrain from embracing,

a time to keep and a time to throw away,
7 a time to tear and a time to mend,
a time to be silent(D) and a time to speak,

I was at dad’s house a couple…
San Jose, CA, USA
I was at dad’s house a couple weeks ago and saw this picture on the wall in his office. He looks so proud to be in the presence of President Bush. He has a photo of himself mad dogging President Clinton while he is shaking his hand tucked away somewhere. Dad told me Clinton gave him a “dead fish”. 1-4-3 dad!

Donnie is my nephew. I called him Donnie his whole life, as an adult he said was ok for me to call him Donnie. Donnie and his sisters didn’t call me Aunt Geri because we were all so close in age and were like siblings whenever we were together. We would laugh about that as kids. Donnie called me Jer Bear ever since I was a kid, and Geri Gayle on my messages when I didn’t answer his calls or texts right away. We laughed about that on our last call about 3 weeks ago for 1.5 hrs, reminiscing about the “old” days, our childhoods, family, camping trips, and our concerns about Covid as seniors. I told Donnie to empty his voicemail box because I could never leave him a message. He laughed said he didn’t know how to do it, that he would just get a new phone. Lol. We had many good times as kids and adults. Glamping in our RVs as adults and camping at Fish Camp (as kids) just outside the Wawona entrance to Yosemite, we would fish, crawdad fish, hike and go horseback riding. One time when we went horseback riding (Donnie’s first) and we were on our horses, Donnie wanted off the horse, he said it growled at him. His sisters and I just started laughing so hard, Donnie got upset. We told him it was ok, everything was fine, that the horse was just talking to him. Donnie settled down and went on the ride. He liked his horse after that. So many memories. Donnie was always there to help out, could be intense at times, but never was afraid to show or voice his love for those he cared about. I will miss Donnie, his smile, his laugh, his fav Bacardi rum and coke drink, and sharing stories. So heartbroken at his unexpected passing, but I know he is at a peaceful, resting place. Always in my mind and heart with love. RIP Donnie. Love you, Aunt Jer Bear❣️🙏🏻

1982, Academy then beyond
Don was an experienced, honorable man who was a mentor to me in so many ways. We were in the academy where he tried his best to school me, unsuccessfully.... Later, we were able to work together in a sting, and at the range. He was probably the best shot I ever saw, and he was tough and smart. I was LUCKY to be Donś friend. Godspeed and 10-7 O-D, old friend.
My uncle had a significant influence on both my life and my career. Since a young age my uncle was always involved in my life. He was funny, ornery, and passionate about law enforcement. The man lived, ate and breathed cop work. He was an old school cop and my guess is you did not want to be on his bad side. In my teens my uncle told some awesome stories about car chases, catching the bad guys, and working major investigations. I met several of his friends over the years. One of the things I noticed about my uncle is that if you were his friend you were his friend forever. He stood by you no matter what.
In 1991 I became a reserve deputy and in 1993 I became a full time officer. In 2001 I was promoted to Sergeant. In 1999 I received my Bachelors Degree and in 2003 I received my Masters Degree. During my career I received several awards. The reason I mention this is because at every step of my career my Uncle Don was there. He encouraged me and gave me words of advice. He was there for my graduations from college and for my kids graduations. The man always had my back.
I don't even know how to express the hole this has left in my heart. Please remember the man for who he was. He exemplified the warrior spirit and was always about respect. I will miss him so much and I hope he is at peace now. Love you Uncle Don!
Don was assigned to my FTO team and we rode together during his training. Very nice competent officer and afterwards, thru the years we spoke now and again. When I retired he assured my city purchased weapon was in excellent like new working order. Sorry for your family loss.
I am an Italian cousin, my grandfather was the brother of Caterina Rossi (nee Martino). Mario Rossi (her son) was a grandfather-in-law for you, because he married your grandmother Grace Powell (nee Pallas) in her second marriage. Harold George Powell (1st husband of Grace) was father of Lois Alice Moore (nee Powell) your mama.
We never met, but your sister Celese has written me a lot about our family and your connections to your family.
I too was born on June 13th. Day of Saint Anthony of Padua (a great saint).
I offer my heartfelt condolences to the whole family.

I met Don at the SJ convention center in late 1981, when we were sitting and waiting for the hiring oral boards. As always, everyone was sizing up the competition. He told me later that when he first saw me, he thought I was either nuts or a cop. At the time I was working undercover for another agency. I had hair to my shoulders and a beard to match. Don and I worked together on and off after being hired at SJPD. In 1994 I was assigned to the Violent Crime Unit, where Don was a Sgt. I was fortunately assigned to Don. We worked together until he went to homicide. We stayed connected through the remaining time until I retired in 2007. I will never forget his advice on buying my retirement home and common sense solutions. As we joked; a brother from another mother (and father). Rest well friend!
Don and I worked together in Vice and Intell. A good hard working Police Officer and a friend. We spent many hours together on Code 5's and Dignitary protection Please let me know if any services are planned Thanks Jack Farmer
I love you with a bushel and …

I love you with a bushel and a peck and a hug around the neck 🖤
Donnie was a very sweet and loving person. He was very protective of all his sisters. My brother almost always involved me in whatever he and all his friends were doing. Football, baseball, wrestling, climbing trees. Of course with football and all his friends, it was modified to touch football, with wrestling I know they took it easy on me.
He would play chase around the house with me. I really think it helped me to learn how to evade a person. hehehe
We would have long talks serious and fun ones. In Yosemite, we would go fishing together and on hikes.
He taught me how to protect myself both in life with people and in the wilds of Yosemite. It seemed as if Donnie was always there when I needed him, with a smile and a hug.
Donnie, I will always miss my big brother and will always love you. We will meet again with love and hugs and laughter.

Donald with his sister Celese…
1978, Massachusetts, USA
Donald with his sister Celese Moore Dodge at his graduation in 1978
He was Papa my whole life. As a kid when we all lived in San Jose, CA we frequented his house especially for the holidays. As a young adult we shared many gatherings at Tara's house and went shooting a few times a year. He was an integral part of the family in many ways. He gave a lot and often stayed true to himself. I'll always remember him for his outfit of tucked in button up shirts, jeans, and smell of swisher sweet cigars but most of all his warm smile. Much love to the Family.

P.S. If anyone wants to call me my number is 916-952-3830
Don loved his kids so very much. Being a close friend of one of his daughters I was ushered into his heart as one of his girls. He would check in with me from time to time just to see how I was and to make sure that I was ok. He always made sure I knew that he was there to help if ever I needed. He was a great story teller! One I remember fondly is about when one of his girls was hurt playing Softball.. He was undercover at the time but drove his sweet ride right up on the field, swept his baby up in his arms and put her into the car ! I could only imagine ! Rest In Peace Don
