Steve's obituary
Donald “Steve” Steven Lister
September 2, 1949 – October 9, 2025
Donald “Steve” Lister, 76, of Hendersonville, Tennessee, passed away on October 9, 2025, after a lengthy illness.
Born in Mattoon, Illinois, Steve lived a life defined by hard work, loyalty, and quiet determination. He joined ROTC while in high school and continued through college, graduating from Murray State University before beginning his career in sales. Steve went on to serve as a regional sales manager for the Wooster Brush Company, where he worked for 30 years — a career he took great pride in and where he built lasting relationships and memories. After more than three decades with the company, he retired with deep respect for the people and work that shaped his life.
Steve found purpose and contentment in everyday routines — watching football, spending time with his children and grandchildren, and piddling in the garage. He approached life with persistence and a steady, matter-of-fact outlook, and he never wanted to give up, no matter the challenge. Those who knew him best will remember his straightforward nature and his familiar phrase, “Well, I’ll be darned.”
He is survived by his wife, Margie Anderson; his sons, David (Emily) and Matthew (Kayla); his siblings, Gale and Donna; and the pride and joy of his life — his grandchildren, Samuel, Levi, and Cullen. He was preceded in death by his parents, Don and Melba Lister.
