Donald Jr.'s obituary
It is with great sadness that the McQueen family announces the passing of their beloved son, brother, father, grandfather, and uncle, Donald Kenneth "Donnie" McQueen Jr., on March 15, 2025. After a long battle with illness following an accident in September 2023, Donnie is now at peace.
Born on September 5, 1956, Donnie was a gifted Red Seal painter who dedicated many years of service to BC Ferries. He was well respected by his co-workers and known for his strong work ethic and craftsmanship.
Donnie will be remembered dearly by all, for his infectious smile that could light up any room and a distinctive laugh that was truly one of a kind. His presence brought joy to those around him, and his absence leaves an immeasurable void in the hearts of all who had the honour of knowing him.
Donnie is predeceased by his mother, Doreen (2013), and his brother Ronnie (1987), whom he is now reunited with.
He is survived by his father, Donald Sr. “Max”; his son Dean (Soffia); daughters Misty and Kaitlyn; six grandsons; his brother Lonnie (Staci); sisters Heather (the late Albert), Kim (Roger), Bambi (Milan), Cindy (Carlos), Holly (the late Arthur), and Tammy; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, and cherished lifelong friends.
Among those who held a special place in Donnie’s heart was his loyal dog and best friend, Chewy.
A celebration of Donnie’s courageous life will be held on Saturday June 7, 2025 at 3:30pm at the Port Coquitlam & District Hunting & Fishing Club located at 5000 Upper Harper Road, Coquitlam, BC, Canada, V3E 3H1 with a luncheon and refreshments being served.
In lieu of flowers to the family at this time, donations may be made in Donnie’s memory to the Burn Fund of BC - https://burnfund.org/donate-now/
Though our hearts ache without him, we find comfort knowing he is no longer suffering. May his memory bring peace to all who loved him.
