Donald Harvey Palmer joined his Savior and his beloved wife Lilly, on April 17, 2025, after a short battle with cancer. He is survived by his son Steven Palmer and daughter Kelley Glenn, and their spouses Deb and Larry. Known as Papa to his grandchildren Katie, Michael, Caroline, Emily and Virginia, and their children Jacob, Anna, Elizabeth, Simon, Lilly, Rachel, Santiago and Caesar, he will be greatly missed. Donald was born on July 2, 1936 in Glendale, California to Margaret J. and Cyril O. Palmer, along with his younger sibling Dot. Don moved to Sacramento in 1947 and attended Fremont Elementary, Sutter Junior High and Sacramento High Schools. He also attended Sacramento City College before joining the U.S. Navy in 1956. Don served 2 years aboard the Destroyer U.S.S. James E. Kyes. In 1962 he began his career as a Draftsman with the State of California, where he met his beloved Lilly. They married in 1964, and in 1973 the family moved to Idaho where Donald worked designing snow removal equipment. In 1997 Donald and Lilly retired, returning to California where he continued to enjoy hobbies and family. Donald loved to stay busy and was forever the builder and craftsman. Some of his hobbies included making clocks, metal detecting and photography. Our Dad and Papa lived an honorable life and was loved very much. We will miss him until we see him again in Heaven. Donald will be laid to rest with Lilly at Elk Grove East Lawn Cemetery.
