Donald's obituary
Donald Francis Green, known affectionately as Don, passed away on October 22, 2024, in Boonville, Indiana, at the age of 77. Born on March 22, 1947, in Rhode Island, Don carried the spirit of his birthplace throughout his life, characterized by his robust sense of humor and candid nature.
Don served proudly in the Marines, a commitment that reflected his disciplined and resilient character. His military tenure instilled in him a sense of duty and honor, traits that he carried into his civilian life.
Following his military service, Don pursued a lifelong career as a mechanic. His passion for automobiles was not just his profession but his hobby and joy. He was known for his ability to fix anything on wheels and spent many decades turning wrenches, diagnosing problems, and restoring cars to their prime. His workshop was a place of stories, laughter, and hard work, much like Don himself.
Beyond his professional life, Don was a spirited and social individual who loved to engage with people. Whether he was recounting tales from his past, joking, or speaking his mind, he never failed to capture an audience. His love for wrestling and the simple pleasure of a cat nap were well-known among his family and friends.
Donald will be cremated, as per his wishes.
He is survived by his partner, Mary Martin, age 69; daughters, Stacy Leih and her children, and Dawn Halfacre and her children; along with grandchildren Cassidy Green, Christian Leih, age 7, Haiden Leih, age 6, Jonah Maldonado, age 3, and Avery Maldonado, age 2. His legacy is carried on through his family, the many cars that continue to run smoothly on the roads, and the countless stories and jokes that linger in the memories of those who knew him.
Donald Green's life was marked by his humor, dedication, and the love he had for his family and friends. He will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
