Donald's obituary

It is with profound sadness and a heavy heart that we share with you the news that our Dad, Donald R. Frick of Waterville, Ohio (formerly of Toledo) passed away Monday, January 10th at his residence in Story Point of Waterville. Don was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend. He was born July 24, 1931 to Louis and Ann Frick in Ashtabula, Ohio.  He graduated from West Unity High School and later from the University of Toledo with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree.  Don worked at Champion Spark Plug for over 30 years as supervisor of the order dept. and later in sales and marketing. He met his beloved wife, Mary, at Champion and they married on November 16, 1957 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church in south Toledo. Together they raised 5 kids: Michelle, Scott, Cherie, Todd and Holly.
Don enjoyed a great many things in life, but he had a passion for woodworking. He spent countless hours at his workbench creating and painting beautiful, unique treasures for his family and friends. He not only made furniture and decorations, but restored many antiques to their former glory. His many pieces adorn the houses of those he loved so dearly. Don also enjoyed fishing with his buddies on his boat the “Frick-a-sea”, listening to classical music, traveling with his wife and family, happy hours, popcorn, and a good bowl of ice cream. In his years on Yaryan, he never turned away a stray animal in need, much to the glee of his kids. He and Mary loved feeding and caring for all their animals over the years, but he especially adored (and spoiled) his fur pals Sparky and Sophie.  He loved being outdoors, and on a beautiful day you could find him sitting in his backyard with Mary, enjoying the sunshine.  He was a kind and generous man who will truly be missed.
Don is survived by his wife, Mary; children, Michelle (John) Tilton, Cheryl Frick, Todd (Meliss) Frick, and Holly (Andrew) Price; daughter-in-law, Diane Frick; sister, Clara Klusty; grandchildren, Kellie Tilton, Greg (Sarah) Tilton, Lauren Frick, Andrew Price and Josephine Price; great grandchildren, Thomas and Leila Tilton.
Per Don's wishes there will be no service and burial will be private. If you would like to honor Don’s life, please consider a donation to The Humane Society of Toledo or WGTE-TV, where Don volunteered for many years.
